Academicwriting, business writing is one of the difference of writing style. I can demonstratethis through the analysis of the voice and language structure to prove it.

Writingstyle is writing characteristics and creative personality in the creation processof a writer. The writing style of academic paper is professional, scientificand theoretical. The writer uses the third person, standardized terms, and soon. The writing style of business paper is concise, well-written and readable.

Voiceis a form of the verbs to illustrate the relationship between the subject andpredicate verbs. There two kinds of voice: active voice and passive voice.Academic voice is often using passive voice and the subject often is the moreremote third person (it/the paper/the purpose/the idea). In the abstract of theacademic paper, “Buying behavior of rural and urban consumers in India: theimpact of packaging”, we can see the sentence, “Rural consumers, however, ismore important for packing, because they strongly believe that it helps tomislead buyers, is also an environmental risk.” In academic papers, there aremany of these sentences, using the passive voice, which are long and complex. How the author expresses his point? It uses complex sentences and passivevoice. Why does the author write like this? The sentence is too long and theyhave to use the passive voice.

Businessvoice is used active voicealmost all the time, for the purpose of increasing the credibility andthe readability. This is a business writer want to use the first person isrelaxed, friendly and persuasive. If the persuasion is one of the goals of mostof the principles of business writing, a friendly, conversational mode isindispensable. In the article, “A new approach to business writing” , Egan wrote that Practicalcriticism that we establish the objective, improve the teaching level of goodadvice demonstration.” GuoQian’s paper introducedpoliteness principle in business writing. And CUMMINS J recommended other matters of business writing.

Languagestructure isthestructure of the sentence and article. Academic language structure is socomplicated that to understand. The contextof academic writing often starts to match the purpose to submit award highereducation group in complex sentencesand lengthy paragraphs. In the paper, “A new approach to business writing”,Egan wrote that, “Close textualanalysis, that is, one of the fundamental tools of practical criticism, enablesus not only to pass these judgements but to formalize them into generalprinciples of sound written communications.” This sentence contains the mainclause and subordinate clause, which of them is very long.

Onthe contrary, business writing has short and simple sentences, meanwhile it hasless paragraphs frequently. For an example, the web site of LinkedIn is asfollows, https://developer.linkedin.com/.The homepage provides an excellent example of “June 8, we release the revised version of the plug-in's terms of use.You continue to use LinkedIn plugin means that you agree to these revisedterms, please take a few minutes to read and understand them.”Now in the distance of the cool and refreshing,"the investigators found that..." Or a driver to the conclusionthat... And so on. The sentence even omits the subject directly,“Make full use of LinkedIn API provides the what, more features, access andsupport.” How the website expresses the meaning? It usessimple sentences and active voice. Why does it display like this? To let thereader seeing the point at the first sight.

Allgood writing the same basic characteristics, is one of the most importantSimple. When you write a businesswriting, keep itsimpleand you will keep it active.
